Will the graves ever be reused?
No. The graves will not and cannot be used again, by law. Once a person has been buried the body stays there forever. The only time a person can be moved from its final resting place is with written permission from the family and a court order. A marker is not required to ensure this, only to assist the family in finding the grave for future prayer and remembrance. Here is a link to the Minnesota law stating that only family may authorize disinterment (moving a burial site) : MN149A.96
Can we bury at garden of eden when someone has died in another state?
Absolutely. Please call us as soon as possible and we will help you arrange transportation back to Minnesota. There are fees associated with air transportation and a funeral home in the area the person died. Usually they range from $2000-$4000 additional depending on what part of the United States the person is in.
we want to send his/her body to another state or country. Can you help us with that?
Yes, definitely. We do this several times a year for families that are wanted to send their loves ones back home.
We can repatriate a body to most countries around the world. Most countries require embalming and a metal sealing casket. There is also paperwork that needs to be completed with the consulate or embassy here in the Unites States. Usually we can complete this in 3-6 days depending on the country. Total cost for sending someone internationally ranges between $9000 and $12,000.
Sending to another state is simple and can be done with a couple days at the family's request. The cost for this is typically from $2500-$3500 total depending on what part of the United States.
Can I attend a funeral if i am non-muslim?
Yes! It is open to anyone that would like to attend. The funeral typically consists of bathing and shrouding (done by the family & community leaders), followed by a two-part public process after. First, the body is prayed on in the mosque by all Muslims (non-Muslims are welcome to the mosque during this time as well) and then to the cemetery. At the cemetery the body is lowered into the grave and filled in by family & community (traditionally an all-male event at the immediate graveside, all are welcome to attend and show support for the family). Funerals typically take place as soon as possible, please call us at (612) 707-7080, Brother Abdullah (651) 398-6081 or talk to a family member you know for details or questions.
